Interior design meets technology

Combine form & function!

Years ago, the term ‘interior design’ was used in reference to stylish pieces of furniture, impressive rugs, and expensive cushions.

These days it means so much more than that!

According to Wikipedia, interior design is ‘the art and science of enhancing the interior of a building to achieve a healthier and more aesthetically pleasing environment for the people using the space’.  So, although your furnishings and upholstered items may play a significant role; it’s a good idea to take into account other attributes, like automated lighting enhancements. Some would even argue that lighting is the single most important design feature in any project!

Lighting can transform and enhance mood.  Studies have shown the human brain will adapt accordingly to the type of light it is subjected to. For example, harsh fluorescent tube lighting causes our brains to feel stressed, yet exposure to softer - more subtle lighting will bring about a more calming and productive effect.

It’s important to note that different lighting is required for different scenarios. The type of light needed for a fully-functional office building will differ from the light required in a living space, and this is where smart lighting really shines. From remote controlled LED strip lights to comprehensive business-sized lighting solutions which can be managed by touch panel, smartphone or tablet; there’s a bespoke system installation to suit your needs.

Lighting systems can be exceptionally cost effective, and can reduce energy bills for many business owners. Separate lighting features can be personalised to your requirements throughout the property. Furthermore, the fact that the systems can be programmed to function automatically at specific times of day brings about even more efficiency.

When you think of interior design, consider the use of contemporary technology and all that automated lighting can bring to the table.
